Even though the bad acne-prone skin, low confidence and social awkwardness that typified my teen years wasn’t fun at all, especially in the jungle that is high school, those times taught me a lot about people and probably built some character into me that I would otherwise never have had to build.
Even now, whenever I see an awkward young girl who is so unsure of herself, my heart goes out to her and I just want to hug her and tell her she’s beautiful and valuable, and that high school is not real life.
That her best years are yet to come.
And the friends I made during those times are still my nearest and dearest now. They are real and genuine and beautiful and I love them to pieces.
And gosh, I am SO glad I didn’t peak at 16.
Thank you God 🙂
